Le Medusa Quadrifoglio
sono la specie di medusa più popolosa e diffusa che si può trovare principalmente nelle acque costiere degli oceani a zona tropicale, ma si possono anche incontrare in altri tipi di acqua poiché in grado di sopravvivere in acque con temperatura fra i -6 e i 32 °C.
La Medusa Quadrifoglio è piuttosto resistente e si può trovare in mari con salinità di solo il 6%, il che la rende abbastanza facile da allevare. Di un colore tra il bianco e il trasparente, quando colpite da una luce a LED brillano come fiamme pallide che fluttuano sinuosamente nell’aria.
Si muovono nell’acqua come nuvole di fumo in un cielo terso grazie alle contrazioni della loro campana che può raggiungere i 30 cm circa. Sono più attive durante i mesi estivi quando le temperature del mare crescono e i livello di ossigeno cala.
Questo è anche il periodo dove si verificano più incidenti per ustione di Meduse Luna, che tuttavia non rappresentano un pericolo reale per l’essere umano e preferiscono nutrirsi del plancton che catturano con i loro lunghi tentacoli.

Scegliendo una Medusa Quadrifoglio come animale domestico, probabilmente significa rinunciare alla speranza che vi risponda quando chiamata per nome o che vi porti il giornale.
Questo perchè queste meduse sono composte per il 95% di acqua ed essenzialmente solo possiedono una bocca ed un apparato digestivo. Hanno un complesso sistema di nervi che comunque non le rende in grado di pensare, la loro esistenza consiste basicamente in gironzolare e nutrirsi, il che forse non le rende così diverse dagli esseri umani. E proprio come qualche spirito libero, trascorrono la loro vita a farsi trasportare da dove li porta la corrente.
Possiedono inoltre una serie di muscoli che le fa muovere e le mantiene vicino alla superficie del mare, dove meglio possono sfruttare la dolce balìa delle onde.
